Helping businesses save on their energy
Leading energy consultancy energyTeam has a helpful guide for companies keen to save on energy use, and are hosting a series of events around the country to provide advice direct to local businesses
To help soften the blow, the Government drew up 'climate change agreements' with a range of industry trade associations.
But Brian Rickerby, joint MD of energyTEAM, says the system isn't working as well as it could.
"Many companies are put off applying for the rebates because they think it's over-complicated or they're not sure who to apply to.
A lot of businesses don't even realise they could be paying more than they should.
In today's climate of high energy prices, every penny saved is worth pursuing".
energyTEAM offers a holistic approach to sourcing energy for its clients, placing a great emphasis on the efficient use of energy.
"Simply, being energy efficient makes sense", says Brian.
"If you can reduce your energy consumption, you reduce your bills directly and also possibly indirectly through a reduction in the Climate Change Levy.
You will, of course, have to provide regular evidence that you've reduced your consumption to justify your rebate but we can help you with that".
For some companies, meeting their energy saving targets in the short term may prove a problem - in which case buying carbon allowances on the UKETS to make up the shortfall could be a useful solution.
To help businesses understand more about the Climate Change Levy, how it affects them and how to claim a rebate, energyTEAM has produced a simple guide - available from the company website.
