Technology aimed at interface level measurement

An Endress and Hauser product story
Edited by the Processingtalk editorial team Nov 25, 2009

Endress+Hauser has detailed its technology offering for the detection and measurement of interfaces in the oil and gas and petrochemical industries, including Levelflex M, Liquicap M and Gammapilot M.

For clean interfaces with an interface layer greater than 60mm, the Endress+Hauser Levelflex M guided radar is said to provide an optimum solution.

The company said the Levelflex M has extended capabilities that enable total level and interface level to be simultaneously measured.

Levelflex M is claimed to offer real measurement integrity as measurement is unaffected by changes in density and temperature.

With no wet calibration required, Endress+Hauser said users of the guided radar will be up and running quickly.

It added that Levelflex M is an ideal direct replacement for expensive and maintenance-intensive displacer systems.

The Liquicap M capacitance device is said to be suitable for applications where emulsion layers are present.

With a fast response rate and strong price/performance ratio, it provides reliable interface measurement in applications such as oil/water and solvent/water.

Its self-sealing cone construction means the probe can be used both in vacuums and in overpressure up to 100 bar.

With Liquicap M, measurement is independent of the upper media dielectric constant (DK) so various liquids can be measured without the need for recalibration.

The Gammapilot M transmitter is said to be an ideal interface-measurement solution in applications where mechanical, geometric or constructional constraints occur or in extreme process conditions.

It is said to be maintenance-free and non-invasive and can be used for measurement in vessels and pipelines that do not have readily available process connections.

Endress+Hauser said that as Gammapilot M is independent of temperature and pressure restrictions, it provides accurate and reliable multi-phase interface measurement.
