ETC provides limescale solution for UK hotel

An Environmental Treatment Concepts product story
Edited by the Processingtalk editorial team Jun 16, 2009

Environmental Treatment Concepts (ETC) has provided a solution for limescale problems at Chilworth Manor Hotel, an Edwardian manor house in central Hampshire.

The hotel, which often hosts team-building events, fun days, fundraising events, product launches and corporate-hospitality events, is located in the middle of southern England's hard-water area.

Following many years of dealing with the hard-water and limescale problems associated with the hotel's gas-fired hot-water heaters, Stephen Axton, maintenance manager, contacted Jan Rowles, an application engineer at ETC.

A site survey and a period of consultation resulted in the formation of an action plan to provide a quick and effective solution to the limescale problems.

Within a short period of time, the installed Scalewatcher Enigma units from ETC, fitted to treat the cold-water services to the gas-fired water heaters and the secondary recirculation return, provided evidence suggesting improved hot-water circulation at the premises.

When the water heaters were opened, as part of the hotel's routine maintenance policy, it was found that the surfaces of the tubes within the hot-water heaters were no longer coated with hard limescale deposits.

Instead, there was just a soft powdery sludge that was easily flushed away.

The time-consuming and expensive planned maintenance costs and the risk of breakdowns have been reduced or eliminated as a result of the technology.

With Chilworth Manor Hotel's newly opened GBP3m leisure club, ETC is currently planning a support package for a water treatment maintenance programme.
