Some popular training courses are to be presented alongside the Manufacturing Excellence conference in June, near Coventry, to allow delegates to receive training plus also benefit from ME attendance

Training is an essential part of process industry control system supply: basic, refresher and advanced courses are regularly arranged for process plant operators and engineers Some of the more popular training courses are to be presented alongside the Manufacturing Excellence conference in June, near Coventry, to allow delegates to receive training plus also benefit from ME Exhibition and Conference attendance

This year there will be two special full day technology courses presented by experts from the Universities of Newcastle and Strathclyde, as an addition to their presentations at the ME conference.

"Introduction to Chemical Engineering Principles", is presented by Peter Burton and Jonathan Love from Newcastle University.

This gives an insight into "What makes the process tick": C and I engineers, Plant Managers and Operations staff are expected to benefit from this insight.

Examples discussed will include Distillation Columns, Heat Exchangers, and the Thermal Design of a Reboiler.

"Introduction to Process Control" is presented by ACTC (Applied Control Technology Consortium) from the University of Strathclyde, and will discuss Process Dynamics, Types of Control, PID Controllers and Tuning, Real Life Problems, and Enhanced Process Control.

The DeltaV Primer/Refresher course from Emerson explains the way DeltaV works with all types of fieldbus and Smart instrumentation, leading on to AMS, the plant asset management and predictive maintenance software.

DeltaV Upgrade - this presentation charts the recent developments made to the Emerson DeltaV systems, and shows the capabilities of the more recent innovations.

Smart Field Equipment: a day split into four separate modules discusses the way intelligence and the different fieldbus techniques have added to the capabilities of Fisher Control Valves, Rosemount Analytical Equipment and Micro Motion/Rosemount Flow Measurement systems.

From diagnostics technology to complete predictive maintenance solutions, Asset Optimisation provides a whole layer above and beyond the PC, analysing and presenting what can be learned about the process and the performance of the plant equipment from the built-in intelligence: it can be bigger, richer and more rewarding for the customer.

Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS): This structured course will lead you through the entire life cycle of a safety loop, from hazard analysis through to on-going maintenance.

The training is scheduled for Tuesday 15th June at the Marriott Forest of Arden Hotel, 5 minutes from the Birmingham International Airport.

Each training session is a full day dedicated to the subject.

Further information is provided via the Manufacturing Excellence website.
