The first Irish event in the series "Manufacturing Excellence through Automation and Asset Management" will be held in Cork from 22-23 October, and will focus on the Irish pharmaceutical industry.

An event presenting technology and experience relevant to the Pharmaceutical industry in Ireland will be held in Cork from 22-23 October Entitled "Manufacturing Excellence Ireland", the conference will focus on batch process automation and asset management

Sponsored by Emerson Process Management, the two day event will show examples of what has been achieved using intelligent instrumentation and digital or fieldbus communications now available in process control architecture, and what the future developments will be in this area.

Delegates can choose to attend for one or two days, as appropriate.

The conference starts with a selection of full day training courses, explaining how PlantWeb digital plant architecture draws on the intelligence of field equipment, and how the Emerson DeltaV digital automation system and AMS software harness this intelligence, to maintain calibration and service data records.

One of the four courses available will look at how existing systems can be developed to access this modern technology.

On the second day delegates can select from two streams of six separate lectures and shorter presentations.

One stream has presentations on the future development of PlantWeb technology, and what is being introduced to assure compatibility with current and future requirements and legislation.

The second stream presents experience from installations in the more modern pharmaceutical plants in Ireland, giving actual user results and experience.

Speakers will be drawn from both suppliers and users of automation systems, and all will have expertise and experience relevant to the pharmaceutical industry.

The two streams allow delegates to tailor this day to suit their requirements, by choosing individual presentation: the coffee and lunch breaks provide an opportunity to exchange views and experience with the lecturers, colleagues from other plants and experts from the suppliers.

It is intended that the event will be useful to a broad spectrum of engineers and managers in the automation and control industry, from operators and technicians through to control system planning engineers, designers and plant managers.

A full set of the lecture notes and presentation material will be provided on CD.

Associated with the conference, there will be an exhibition displaying products and systems from various manufacturers, also chosen for their relevance to these industries in Ireland.

Delegates should register beforehand to reserve places: a modest delegate fee will be charged to cover the event costs.

The venue will be the Great Southern Hotel at Cork Airport, 2 minutes walk from the terminal buildings.

For more information please request the brochure and provisional presentation programme.
