The best in polymer research and academic excellence will be on show at the 2nd UK Polymer Showcase from September 6-7, 2005 at the Cedar Court Hotel, Wakefield, Yorkshire.

The highest profile speakers from the UK and international polymer research community are making presentations, including: Dame Julia Higgins, Professor Tom McLeish, Professor Andrew Cooper, Professor Hugh Clare, Dr Nigel Clarke and many others.

Professor Rudy Koopmans of Dow will present on 'R and D challenges for the 21st century: sustainable materials' and Dr Jim Darwent of Unilever Central Research will present on 'Current and future applications of polymers in home and personal care products'.

Harald Egner from the prestigious Fraunhofer Institute will speak and the University of Potsdam will also give a paper.

The UK Polymer Showcase is once again setting out to highlight the latest advances in polymer science, soft nanotechnology, macromolecular materials and new technologies on the plastics and rubber horizons.

The showcase is being jointly organised by the long standing Polymer Interdisciplinary Research Centre (IRC), its Industrial Club and partners Faraday Plastics, Faraday Packaging and Yorkshire Forward.

The showcase is free of charge - open to delegates from industry, government bodies and academic institutions in order to provide a forum for information, discussion and the exchange of current ideas.

Faraday Plastics Director Richard Simpson says 'this meeting is an ideal - and free - opportunity for industry to get alongside leading edge thinking in current polymer materials science.
