Faversham House, the new owners of NEMEX, the National Energy Management Exhibition, have announced plans to transform the 2004 event, which takes place at the NEC from 30th March to 1st April

Faversham House Group (FHG), the new owners of NEMEX, the National Energy Management Exhibition, have announced plans to transform the 2004 event, which takes place at the NEC from 30th March to 1st April With energy now the second biggest expenditure for commercial organisations after staffing costs, improving energy efficiency can provide an effective way of improving the bottom line for UK companies

In addition, organisations are dealing with the pressures placed on them by corporate social responsibility and carbon management issues.

With this in mind, significant investment is being made in the promotion and management of NEMEX, which will form part of the UK's biggest ever environment and energy event.

To help visitors keep up-to-date with new opportunities, thinking and legislative changes, several streams of seminars and events in the adjoining NEC seminar facilities accompany the exhibition.

The programme is supported and shaped by the NEMEX Steering Group of industry experts and industry bodies such as ESTA, MEUC and the Energy Institute.

The NEMEX conference will be held a alongside the exhibition on Wednesday March 31st.

The main Conference will be chaired by Andrew Warren, Director of the Association for the Conservation of Energy.

The Conference opens with an update on the government's White Paper, with names such as Dr Joanne Wade, Research Director of the Association for the Conservation of Energy speaking on how the paper will affect the energy efficiency industry.

Philip Wolfe, Chief executive of the RPA will be examining the impact of the White Paper on the renewables sector.

The second session of the Conference focuses on the Energy Performance in Buildings Directive.

Delegates will hear an overview of the Directive from Dr Paul Davidson, Director of Sustainable Energy Centre at BRE, as well as advice on how to work with it from Terry Wyatt, CIBSE.

The third session will look at the hot topic of Emissions Trading with speakers from Future Energy Solutions and the University of Sussex speaking on the policy implications and future of the scheme and how companies should respond to it, before the day closes with a panel debate.

Embedded renewables is a major new theme for NEMEX in 2004, showing organisations how they can benefit from incorporating renewable energy into their buildings.

NEMEX will once again play host to the industry at the Gala dinner where the Energy Manager of the Year Award will be presented, supported this year by Eibi and the Energy Institute.

This award will recognise and encourage those working as energy managers, acknowledging both individual achievement in efficient energy practice in the workplace, as well as the vital contribution the profession as a whole must make in achieving the UK CO2 reduction targets.

Entries for this award are still welcome.

A number of high profile exhibitors have already been confirmed for NEMEX 2004.

They include: Powergen, Siemens Energy Services, Invensys, London Energy, TEAM (Energy Auditing), nPower, STC Energy Solutions, Energy ICT/Seltek and Energy Services Ltd.

The organisers have announced that NEMEX will be co-located with three other FHG events: the UK's leading environment exhibition, ET2004, the International Clean Up Exhibition and the EMF conference and exhibition.

All three shows focus on environmental compliance, sustainability and efficient resource use and FHG intends to exploit the synergies between the shows for the benefit of both exhibitors and visitors.
