Valves for first LPG FPSO ever built
FCX Truflo Rona, part of the global flow control group FCX International, is set to play a major role in the construction of the world's first LPG FPSO vessel, to be used at Cabinda off Angola
The company has been awarded a major contract by contractors IHI for the manufacture of low temperature, top entry ball valves for use in the liquid and vapour gas lines on-board the vessel Both manual and remote [hydraulic] operated valves will be supplied in sizes up to 200mm diameter and ANSI 150lb and 300lb pressure ratings

Ishikawajima - Harima Heavy Industries Co Ltd [IHI] and Mitsui and Co Ltd of Japan were contracted to build the LPG-FPSO [Floating Production Storage and Offloading] vessel by Single Buoy Mooring of Monaco.
The vessel will be used for the Sanha Condensate Project at the Cabinda Block-0 located off Angola.
The project is operated by a major oil grouping consisting of Sonangol [national oil company of Angola], ChevronTexaco, TotalFinaElf and Agip.
A joint venture company formed by Single Buoy Mooring and Sonangol will operate the vessel.
When it is delivered in 2004 the LPG FPSO will serve the Angolan Sanha condensate complex north of the Congo River and will increase LPG production in the area.
The mixed LPG gas will be received from two LPG production platforms in Block 0, and it will be fractionated onboard the vessel to separate butane and propane products.
Each product stream will then be chilled for storage in the Sanha LPG FPSO atmospheric pressure storage tanks and periodically transferred to LPG export tankers for shipment and sale.
The FPSO vessel, which will have a daily production capacity of liquefied petroleum gas [LPG] of 6,000cm and a storage capacity of 135,000cm, will be built at the IHI Kure Shipyard.
Previously, associated gas produced by the offshore facilities had either been flared to atmosphere or piped to an onshore LPG production plant.
The LPG-FPSO system not only provides significant additional supplies of low cost petroleum gas for use as fuel but also contributes to a cleaner environment.
Trevor Fairhurst, Sales and Marketing Executive of FCX Truflo Rona commented: " We are very proud to be associated with this prestigious world first project and particularly pleased about our continuing supply relationship with IHI for their construction of LPG and LNG carrying vessels".
