FCX Thompson Valves has secured a number of key contracts in both oil and gas and the nuclear industries.

The Poole, Dorset-based company - part of the global FCX group of flow control solution providers - has won a significant contract to supply Maxseal IC02S intrinsically safe solenoid valves to Karachaganak Oil and Gas in Kazakhstan.

The order is for 550 units designed and approved to operate at minus 45 degrees centigrade.

In addition, the company has won several further large contracts to supply its Maxseal IC04S EExd solenoid valves to the prestigious Sakhalin 2 project in the CIS.

All products ordered are designed and approved to meet the low temperature requirement of minus 40 degrees centigrade.

Woodside Oil and Gas of Australia have selected FCX Thompson Valves to supply Maxseal IC02S intrinsically safe pilot operated solenoid valves for the upgrade of their Goodwin 'A' offshore platform.

The valves will incorporate a specially designed safe position sensor specified by the customer and will be supplied through sister group company FCX Pegler Beacon in Perth who have an established supplier relationship with Woodside.

The company is also active in the nuclear industry and has been awarded contracts totalling GBP1M to supply a range of their NHI nuclear bellows sealed globe and Ashford bellows sealed instrument valves and manifolds for the Cernavoda 2 nuclear power plant in Romania.

The contract was awarded to AECL Canada who will construct the second CANDU nuclear reactor at the Cernavoda site.
