On a more technical note, Professor Andrew Gibson from Manchester Metropolitan University presented his recent work on the use of microwaves to measure fat content in products.

As we went to press, the NFIIN project, which is being delivered by FPFP in partnership with Knowledge House and Leatherhead Food International, had already recruited over 25 companies across the region.
A dedicated web portal has also just been launched, which provides free access to companies who register, enabling them to get FoodLine web content from Leatherhead Food International, as well as a dedicated secure space to share specific project knowledge and ideas.
The project also has an Innovation Fund which can provide up to GBP5,000 per company to kick - start projects, provided this is at least matched by them.
This can be in cash or 'in kind', ie effort.
Ian Blakemore, Regional Manager, is very enthusiastic.
