Automation supplier Festo has signed a co-operation agreement with the leading process valve manufacturer Gemu, enabling both to offer a full range across factory and process automation

Automation supplier Festo has signed a cooperation agreement with the leading process valve manufacturer Gemu.

Steve Sands of Festo commented: "We already provide products for the process industry.

Our co-operation with Gemu - the leading supplier of industrial and process valves - will enable us to offer a joint product range.

We aim to offer a full range of products, not only for factory automation but also for process automation".

The Managing Director of Gemu Valves, Steve Orton, added: "Cooperation with Festo is the next logical step for us.

It enables us to take account of the growing integration of factory and process automation.

It also enables us to focus on our core competencies while at the same time tapping into new business fields and applications".

Factory automation and process automation face similar challenges.

De-centralised intelligence and increased miniaturisation and integration call for clear solutions from the manufacturers of automation equipment.

This co-operation enables both companies to offer customers a larger and more complete range of products and services.

In particular, co-operation between Gemu and Festo will facilitate an increasing number of system-level solutions.

Festo already offers engineering tools which greatly simplify the design and configuration of automation components - playing a major role in reducing engineering costs and project lead times.

In future, these will be complemented by modules for the design and configuration of process valves, including the advanced Gemu valve range.

This agreement will help to reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) for our customers.
