Yamatake executive named for Fieldbus

Mr Sone joins other automation industry leaders serving on the Foundation board.
In addition to Chairman John Berra of Emerson Process Management, current members include: Steve Eisenbrown, Rockwell Automation; David Eisner, Honeywell; John Eva, Invensys/Foxboro; Motofumi Matsumura, Fuji; Akira Nagashima, Yokogawa; Jim Porter, DuPont; Claude Ricaud, Schneider Electric; Ron Szanyi, ExxonMobil; and Mark Taft, ABB.
As the Fieldbus Foundation's newest director, Mr Sone looks forward to taking an active role in the future direction of Foundation fieldbus.
"I am pleased and honoured to have an opportunity to serve on the foundation board," said Mr Sone.
"Foundation fieldbus is recognized as a worldwide automation standard for both new plant construction and retrofit projects, and I am looking forward to working with my industry colleagues to help keep the technology strong".
Fieldbus Foundation President and CEO Richard Timoney welcomed Mr Sone to the board of directors.
"Hirozumi Sone will be a valuable addition to our organization.
He has extensive knowledge of advanced control technology and is an enthusiastic and hard-working executive".
Mr Sone has had a lengthy career with Yamatake Corporation.
In addition to serving on the board of directors for Yamatake Industrial Systems Co, he was the company's executive director of corporate planning.
Mr Sone also was director of marketing for Yamatake-Honeywell Co.
He is a member of ISA (The Instrumentation, Systems and Automation Society) and SICE (The Society of Instrument and Control Engineers, Japan), and is chairman of the SICE Asian Committee.
Mr Sone holds a Master's Degree in Control Engineering from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, where he is a lecturer on control system engineering.
