The Fieldbus Foundation announces the 2005 General Assembly agenda: the keynote addresses by European industry leaders highlight the end user-oriented agenda
The Fieldbus Foundation today announced the agenda for its 2005 General Assembly, to be held on Wednesday, February 23, and Thursday, February 24, at the Intercontinental Hotel in Vienna, Austria This year's event, themed "Plant-wide Integration: HSE+H1," will include an end user-oriented programme featuring automation industry leaders, FOUNDATION fieldbus case studies, technical training workshops and tabletop product demonstrations

Highlighting the General Assembly agenda will be keynote addresses by Mr Rajah Jayendran, director of technical services at the Bayer Integrated Site Caojing, and Dr Gunther Kegel, chief executive officer of Pepperl+Fuchs Mannheim.
Mr Jaydendran will discuss the importance of leading edge automation solutions such as FOUNDATION fieldbus to today's manufacturers, while Dr Kegel will address the importance of innovative technologies from a supplier's viewpoint.
The 2005 General Assembly programme offers workshops for process control vendors, end users and contractors focusing on the key issues of plant-wide integration with FOUNDATION fieldbus.

Attendees will receive valuable information concerning fieldbus installations and advancements, together with user case studies demonstrating the benefits of the technology.
Foundation member companies will also display their latest FOUNDATION fieldbus devices and host systems as part of a tabletop exhibit.
On Wednesday, February 23, the General Assembly will kick off with a series of end user case studies.
Presenters include: Leen van der Reiden, Shin-Etsu (FOUNDATION fieldbus: The New Standard of Shin-Etsu PVC BV); Sven Seinsch, Infraserv (Maintenance Requirements NE107); and Ian Verhappen, ICE-Pros (FF Economics and Modeling Tool).
Mr Verhappen, who currently serves as chairman of the Fieldbus Foundation End User Advisory Council (EUAC), will also present 'What is the EUAC?' Stephen Mitschke, Fieldbus Foundation product manager, will provide an update on worldwide fieldbus activities.
A cocktail welcome reception will follow with keynotes by Dr Kegel and Mr Jayendran.
The General Assembly commences on Thursday, February 24, with fieldbus technology workshops.
The afternoon program will include end user presentations by John Mosher, Honeywell (FF and NeSSI); Luay Al-Awami, Saudi Aramco (Middle East Paper); Chris Baltus, DSM (The Next Step: Using Fieldbus for Safety Applications); and Herman Storey, Shell Global Solutions (An End User View).
The event will conclude with an open panel discussion involving leading fieldbus experts, and closing comments by Fieldbus Foundation President and CEO Richard Timoney.
The 2005 General Assembly follows recent, successful Fieldbus Foundation events in the Americas, Asia/Pacific and EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa including CIS).
These end user and developer-based gatherings demonstrated the continued growth of FOUNDATION fieldbus in the control and instrumentation market, and acknowledged worldwide industry support for the technology.
