The Fieldbus Foundation today announced the agenda for its 2006 General Assembly, to be held at the Ritz Carlton Portman Hotel in Shanghai, China, from February 28-March 1 This year's event, themed, "Compliance, Confidence, Credibility," will address the needs of the expanding Foundation fieldbus market in China and Asia/Pacific, and will feature end user presentations, technical training workshops, and tabletop product exhibits

Keynote speakers will include: Mr Huang BuYu, deputy chief engineer, Sinopec Engineering ; and Mr Seah Ooi Kiat, head instrument engineer, Shell Petrochemicals.
Mr Huang and Mr Seah will discuss Foundation fieldbus applications in the Chinese petrochemical industry.

The Fieldbus Foundation has released an Interoperability Testing Kit automation tool, developed for device manufacturers to accelerate the process of preparing fieldbus products for registration
Mr Ian Verhappen, chairman of the Fieldbus Foundation End User Advisory Council (EUAC), will open the end user programme with a presentation concerning Foundation fieldbus End User Councils (EUCs) around the world, and their benefits for the automation user community.
Mr Verhappen will also conduct a workshop on fieldbus economics.
Mr Dave Glanzer, director of technology development, Fieldbus Foundation, will provide an update on the current activities of the organization around the world.
End user presentations will describe Foundation fieldbus installations at key facilities throughout China.
Ms Joan Wu, Bayer Material Science, will discuss the Foundation fieldbus project at the Bayer CaoJing plant; and Mr Wei Hua, CNOOC Kingboard Chemical, will detail his company's experiences with a fieldbus intrinsically safe (IS) application.
In addition, Mr Wu Guo Liang, IPMT, SECCO, will report on use of the technology on the world-class SECCO project; and Mr Seah Ooi Kiat, CNOOC and Shell Petrochemicals Company, will outline the fieldbus implementation at the CSPC Nanhai Petrochemical Complex.
The General Assembly agenda also features a series of tutorial workshops by leading fieldbus technology experts.
Topics/presenters include: "Fieldbus Overview" by Mr Yong Hong Yang, Sinopec Yanshan Training Centre; "Introduction to Electronic Device Description Language (EDDL)" by Mr Stephen Mitschke, director of fieldbus products, Fieldbus Foundation; "Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS)" by Mr Dave Glanzer, director of technology development, Fieldbus Foundation; and "High Speed Ethernet (HSE)" by Mr Jonas Berge, general manager, Smar Singapore.
In addition, the General Assembly speakers will participate in panel discussions addressing key fieldbus-related topics.
Mr Rich Timoney, president and CEO, Fieldbus Foundation, will provide closing comments for the event.
Throughout the General Assembly, Foundation member companies will present tabletop exhibits displaying their latest Foundation fieldbus devices, tools and host systems.
