FF student scholarship awards announced
The next year's recipients of the James O Gray Fieldbus Foundation Educational Scholarship awards are from Singapore Polytechnic, SAIT of Alberta, Canada and Waseda University in Japan

His course of study involved the use of fieldbus technology in pilot plants.
For his final year project, Kenneth participated in a pilot study for Petrobras Corporation which examined the interoperability of Foundation devices with various Foundation host systems.
The project deepened Kenneth's interest in fieldbus technology, especially when integrated with internet technology.
In 2005, Kenneth completed a Product and Process Research and Development programme.
He was elected deputy class representative, promoted to class representative, and is currently a member of the Singapore Polytechnic Student Union.
Upon graduation, Kenneth is planning to obtain a degree in control and electrical engineering at either a local Singapore university or overseas.
From the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), in Canada, Jan Krak, who is a Czechoslovakian-born military pilot-engineer.
Jan has flown three different types of military fighters, and gained First Class Military Fighter Pilot status after nine years of service.
Looking for a new career path, Jan joined his father, a mechanical engineer, in working for a company in the food technology industry.
He returned to school at the same time and completed two years at the Food Technology Institute, graduating with a diploma in Fermentation Process and Control.
Pursuing an instrumentation career, Jan and his father have been involved in different projects regarding food processing, refining and process control in the Czech and Slovak Republics.
In 2003 Jan moved his wife and daughter to Canada, where he carried on with his instrumentation career.
Applying for a seat in the IIET programme at SAIT in 2004, he is now a second-year student in the IIET full-time programme.
Jan joined ISA in June 2005, and will become a member of ASET this year.
His graduation from the IIET programme will be in April 2008.
Akira Uehara from the Waseda University in Tokyo: Akira is a first-year Master Course student studying Process Diagnosis Techniques, with a special interest in diagnostic techniques as a function block of Foundation technology.
The main theme of his study is the diagnosis of impulse line blockage involving a differential pressure transmitter, for which, in conjunction with the Yokogawa Corporation, Akira discovered an improved diagnostic method.
Akira has presented papers to the Japanese Society of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineering at Kyusus University, The Society of Instrument and Control Engineers at Tokyo Institute of Technology, and The Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers in Osaka City University.
As a high school exchange student, Akira attended North Field Mount Herman Summer School in the United States.
