Save time in assessing emulsion stability

A major drinks manufacturer is using the TurbiScan to speed up and improve the stability measurement of their soft drink concentrate emulsions.
In addition reducing the test time from days to a number of hours the TurbiScan generates additional useful data compared to the current test method where the emulsions are particle sized as they are manufactured and then stored to check for any instability.
The instrument is used to measure the droplet size/concentration and is used to predict whether the batch is completely emulsified, and therefore, ready for the next stage in the process.
This information helps to avoid problems such as "Ringing" which can sometimes be seen around the top of Orange flavoured fizzy drinks.
The units have found success with drinks such as Cola, orange based drinks, and fruit juice emulsions.
Further trials are continuing with the TurbiScan and future applications will include measurement of foam density, measurement of dispersion efficiency and optimisation of surfactant concentrations.
