Quick and efficient systems for monitoring the stability of metalworking fluid emulsions like TurbiScan can avoid deterioration that produces tool wear, corrosion, foam and odour

Metal working fluids are usually in the form of emulsions, and the stability of these emulsions is critical - as any deterioration may lead to reduced tool life, corrosion, foam, odour Prediction and monitoring of the stability of these emulsions can be very time consuming, but by using the TurbiScan the work can be carried out quickly and efficiently

This work can be carried out in a laboratory, or even actually in-line, with an on-line TurbiScan to continuously monitor the condition of the metal working fluid.

A recently published paper compares the standard salt titration technique with the TurbiScan and shows how the TurbiScan is very sensitive to any changes within the emulsion.

It is so rapid in its detection of these changes that it can be used during the formulation stage to pick the best additives; to improve the emulsion performance.
