The prestigious awards are the only multi-disciplinary engineering awards and attract entries from around the world.
There are 17 awards, each sponsored by a major company, and the winners will be announced at an awards evening on 11 October at a ceremony at the IET London HQ in Savoy Place, hosted by TV personality Adam Hart-Davis.
The awards are supported by the Department of Trade and Industry.
Lord Sainsbury of Turville, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Science and Innovation at the DTI will introduce the awards.
Flownetix was formed in 2002 as a spin-off company from the design company Univations with the purpose of specialising in the design and development of low cost ultrasonic flowmeters for a wide range of applications.
The senior management team has a wealth of experience in instrumentation and the potable water industry and were responsible for developing the technology for the highly successful 100 series low cost ultrasonic flow meter.
This led to the company being awarded a Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Smart Award in 2002 to continue to develop the product which has resulted in the development of a whole range of flowmeters.
The 300 series, which is now setting the industry standard for low cost, high performance ultrasonic consumer water meters, was released in 2005.
All product design, development, software engineering and pilot manufacturing is carried out in the company's laboratories located at their headquarters building in Marlow, UK.
Keeping everything under one roof has allowed Flownetix to ensure that all aspects of the product's development cycle have been fully integrated and optimised to deliver a product fully fit for purpose at excellent cost with no compromise in quality or performance.
Large scale production takes place in an ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 accredited factory which has the capacity to produce over 1 million units per year.
