Flotronic raise the bar on pump
compliance
Flotronic Pumps have taken their ATEX 94/9/EC compliance level even further with the recent award of Gas Group IIC accreditation
Already compliant to IIA and IIB standards, Flotronic was keen to meet the more demanding requirements of IIC, which include more stringent anti-static regulations and the ability to operate in an environment where acetylene and hydrogen are present Independently ratified by notification body Intertek Testing Services, the enhanced certification required anti-static components which meet with EN13463, the British Standard governing non-electrical equipment intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres

Peter Wheal, the Flotronic Chief Engineer, commented on the new accreditation, "Achieving Gas Group IIC was the logical next step in the Flotronic compliance strategy.
It has meant a thorough review of potential static generating components like the air-operated diaphragm found in the famous Flotronic one-nut pump design".
Unlike Gas Group IIA and IIB regulations, Gas Group IIC accreditation requires fine tolerances for all static generating parts regardless of whether maintenance and servicing are performed in-line or outside the hazardous area.
"Most Flotronic pumps can now be fitted with Gas Group IIC compatible components where customers require this level of compliance" said Peter Wheal.
