Flow Technology (FTI), a leading manufacturer of precision flow measurement instruments, and systems, has announced the introduction of the Extended Linearity 2200 Series of electromagnetic flowmeters

Available in line sizes from 1-16 inches, these meters represent the state-of-the-art for accurate flow measurement in water cycle and process applications First in a new line of electromagnetic flow meters, the EL 2200 Series creates a unique electromagnetic field profile that ensures accuracy not only in turbulent flow, but also during the transitional and laminar flow regimes

The meters provide extended linearity and a wide measurement range of up to 1000:1 without the aid of linearisation software.

The EL 2200 has a bi-directional flow capability with no moving parts and no pressure drop.

Flow Technology Vice President of Marketing Ralph Duffill described the EL 2200 Series electromagnetic flow meters as "a much-needed solution for users with applications requiring extended linearity", He said: "Flow Technology is pleased to offer the EL 2200 Series-advanced instruments providing the latest performance features at a very competitive price.

The meters incorporate a unique field generation structure providing 1000:1 turndown and allowing wide rangeability with a single unit".

The EL 2200 Series electromagnetic flow meter bases its operation on the Faraday Principle, by which a conductor crossing a magnetic field generates a potential.

The resultant potential is directly proportional to the flow velocity.

The meter employs a 304 stainless steel flow tube with carbon or stainless flanges, as well as a sealed electrode and coil assembly providing immunity to humidity variation.

Two Hastelloy C 22 electrodes are used to generate the magnetic field, with a third electrode dedicated for ground to eliminate the need for costly grounding rings required by other manufacturers.

The standard liner material is PTFE for one to six-inch meter sizes, and Ebonite for sizes larger than six inches.

Flange and sensor exterior surfaces are coated with acrylic paint, providing excellent resistance to water.

Electronics available for the EL 2200 Series electromagnetic flow meters consist of a base transmitter with optional panel mounted display, as well as a multiple output converter with integral display.

Electronics can be mounted directly on the flow meter or remotely mounted.

When the electronics are remotely mounted, the entire meter meets the IP 68 standard for permanent immersion in water up to a depth of 1.5 meters.
