"We first became ISO accredited some twelve years ago; we enjoy Certified Integrator and Certified Partner status with many leading software solutions specialists and we recently introduced a new management information system to further improve the efficiency of our operations and make us wholly accountable to clients, with totally transparent processes and procedures".
The TickIT standard provides FMA with a clear framework for software development and implementation via a functional design strategy.
It also ensures that appropriate client interfaces regarding decision making and adherence to quality standards are present in all procedures and that approval and validation techniques are in place to make certain that all software written is effective and meets all the necessary objectives.
For FMA, operating to the TickIT quality system offers two clear areas of importance.
First, is the opportunity to further improve internal communications between software teams and, in turn, their communication with other teams in the mechanical and electrical design functions of a project.
Second, is the opportunity to enhance the process of design change control.
"It's an accepted fact that you never start a project with all you need to know," comments Terry Clough.
"There will always be unforeseen issues, each ready to impact on a project.
However, by ensuring that the effect of any change is incorporated across the tangible areas of mechanical and electrical design and implementation - as well as the less visible area of software and systems development - additional levels of confidence can be enjoyed within the organisation and shared with clients".
"In short, our embracing of TickIT has provided a worthwhile enhancement to the excellent procedures that FMA already has in place," concluded Terry Clough, "and recognises our constant search for improvement".
Established in 1981, and TickIT accredited in November 2003, FMA Process Engineering has a company-wide commitment to excellence and is acutely aware of the need for quality in all aspects of system design.
Indeed, the company sees its own internal standards and procedures covering the design, implementation, validation and testing of the systems they supply as being a key differentiator for them as systems integrators in the food and beverage marketplace.
FMA is a Microsoft Certified Partner and a Solutions Partner with Siemens, Rockwell, Intellution and Wonderware.
