New electronic outputs for simple flow
indicator
The well known Flow-Mon liquid flow indicator is to get the benefit of a development project to produce a novel electronic output system, to add to their existing range of alarm units and indicators
Flow-Mon has been awarded a research and development grant by Yorkshire Forward (the Yorkshire and Humber Regional Development Agency) for its 'I-Mon Project' A new type of fluid flow measurement technology which turns mechanical indication into an electronic format, either a pulse or 4-20mA output, will be developed during the current year

Christian Freeman, who joined Flow-Mon in March this year, will be the Project Manager for I-Mon (Intelligent Flow Monitoring) and will guide the research and development team throughout the year, looking at how a simple 'flow rate indicator' can be turned into a low cost 'flow meter' with an ATEX approved 4-20mA or Pulse Output.
There are a variety of development stages for I-Mon but initially the objective is to improve the way mechanical flow monitors indicate flow.
I-Mon will use an innovative arrangement of sensors, electronics and software technologies, in combination with a unique calibration process to bring about a flow monitor which reads instantly from a positioning sensor as soon as any flow is detected.
Our first objectives are to produce a working prototype (proof of principle lab model), laboratory test rig facility, patent application and a full market assessment report.
The results of the I-Mon project will be far reaching, will open many new doors to Flow-Mon, and will also benefit all our valued customers by supplying them with a quality flow monitor at a very keen price.
The I-Mon will continue to offer the continuous flow readings and switching capabilities that Flow-Mon are well known for, but will also offer an ATEX approved 4-20mA or pulse output.
