Tanks transportable by land, by sea - and by air!
Forbes, manufacturer of custom designed GRP and thermoplastic storage tanks, have recently completed the manufacture and airlift delivery of two large GRP tanks for Potable Water storage
Forbes, the UK's leading manufacturer of custom designed GRP and thermoplastic storage tanks, have recently completed the manufacture and delivery of two large GRP storage tanks for the storage of Potable Water.
The tanks were manufactured for GMJV in partnership with Scottish Water Solutions and were driven by road from Forbes manufacturing base at Kelso in the Scottish Borders to Loch Ailort on the west coast of the Scottish Highlands where they were transferred onto a sea barge for a short sea journey to Glenuig.
Final access to the remote site at Glenuig on the beautiful shores of Loch Ailort could only be achieved by air lifting the tanks by helicopter from the sea barge.
Their strong but lightweight GRP construction made them the ideal water storage solution for this site.
GMJV Project Manager Mr Ian Hewson stated "The availability of the lightweight tank construction to meet Water Quality (Scotland) Regulation Standards, and the full co-operation of Colin Wills and his Project team at Forbes, made easy work of an otherwise very tricky job for GMJV".
Forbes 'LION' tank specifications meet the stringent requirements of the Water Supply (Water Quality) (Scotland) Regulations 2001.
Forbes are currently the only GRP tank manufacturer with products approved for use under these regulations with their 'Lion' 'Lynx' and 'Cheetah' ranges of products.
