TurnKey solution for ultrasonic river flowmeter

Flowline have recently completed a "turnkey" project for RMC Aggregates at their site in Nottingham: the project required the installation of a flowmeter to measure the River Erewash as it flowed into their lagoon system at Attenborough Lakes Nature Reserve, an SSSI.

The installation of a flowmeter into a river usually involves a mix of engineering disciplines including civil, electrical, environmental and instrumentation including telemetry.

Flowline were able to supply the complete "off the shelf" package which included: installation of the probes into the river, new cable runs for sensor and power cables, complete system installation and commissioning including GSM telemetry.

Prior to the project commencing Flowline surveyed the site to establish a suitable location and correct system specification.

A 4-path "Time of Flight" ultrasonic system manufactured by Ultraflux was specified: Ultraflux have 30 Years experience in ultrasonic flowmetering.

The system which complies to the BS3680 standard uses 4 pairs of probes to measure flow velocity at pre-set depths, the average velocity is combined with the depth reading from the level sensor to calculate volumetric flow.

The compact remote mounted control unit has an LCD screen display showing flows as well as diagnostic information, the built-in data logger can be interrogated on site or via the GSM modem which can also be used to call up real time flow readings and quality control data.

The system requires no regular maintenance and is backed by a 10 year sensor warranty and full on site support.
