Infra-red camera breaks the market price barrier

A Flir Systems product story
Edited by the Processingtalk editorial team Jun 10, 2004

With the introduction of the new ThermaCAM E25 infrared camera, FLIR Systems is breaking open the market for infrared thermography: it is priced as low as GBP6950 including software

From now on, price is no longer an obstacle to put infrared to work in any facility.

Priced as low as GBP6,950, ThermaCAM QuickView software included, the ThermaCAM E25 will bring the benefits of infrared thermography to many more users.

This launch poses an important question.

Why pay GBP6,950 for a lower-spec unit when, for the same price you can have a camera that is better than its competitors in virtually every respect.

The new ThermaCAM E25 is more sensitive, more accurate, offers more choice and contains more standard features than any other camera within its price range.

Unlike others, the ThermaCAM E25 is IP54 rated and therefore highly robust.

It comes with a choice of lens - 9mm, 17mm or 36mm - not just one, so it can be equipped to suit the application.

And with the E25, composite video output is a standard feature.

As the E25 captures thermal images at a speed of 50 Hz - not 20 Hz - it is suitable for scanning moving targets.

The focal plane array is 160 x 120 pixels, larger than its competitors, resulting in better quality thermal images being displayed on the camera's large, super-bright 63.5mm LCD display.

It also offers a greater choice of palettes and a wider temperature scale; from -20C as standard and up to 900C as an option.

This fully radiometric camera is exceptionally easy to operate.

With a weight of just 700 grams, it can be clipped to a belt or stored in a toolbox.

In common with other E-series cameras, the E25 has in-built Laser LocatIR to help the operator associate a hot spot on the IR image with the real physical target.

This greatly enhances user safety by eliminating the tendency to 'finger point' at problems in low- and high-voltage environments.

The ThermaCAM E25 is a reliable infrared camera with basic analysis capabilities.

It has a fixed measurement spot in the middle of the image.

The camera sees temperature differences as small as 0.20C and stores up to 100 infrared images in its internal memory.

The camera is very easy to use.

Only four buttons and a joystick control the entire camera.

The lightweight, long-life Li-ion battery ensures uninterrupted inspections and can be recharged in any vehicle, en route to the next job.

"The ThermaCAM E-series has brought the benefits of real-time infrared imaging and measurement to many more users," concludes Paul Sacker, Sales and Marketing Manager FLIR Systems.

"With the introduction of the ThermaCAM E25 price is even less of an obstacle.

This model provides exceptionally good value for money.".
