Superb thermal imaging performance from new camera
Product developments and acquisitions have enabled FLIR Systems to grow its product range into one of the most comprehensive on the market
Product developments and acquisitions have enabled FLIR Systems to grow its product range into one of the most comprehensive on the market.
Whether the customer simply wants a low cost 'toe in the water' infrared camera or a professional solution that can be upgraded in line with application requirements and operator experience, the FLIR Systems range can meet the need.
So with such a wealth of choice why is the company launching yet another option? The new ThermaCAM E320 is a natural extension to FLIR Systems low-end E-Series platform.
However, whilst it might look part of the E-Series from the outside, its feature set and performance take it into the big league.
Indeed, ThermaCAM E320 has many features in common with the professional ThermaCAM Series such as a 320x240 pixel detector offering superb thermal imaging performance.
All other E-Series cameras incorporate a 120x160 pixel detector.
However, true to its E-Series class, the E320 is designed for customers with specific thermographic needs who do not require superior P-Series flexibility.
This new mid-range addition provides full, non-contact temperature measurement and analysis capabilities of both live and saved images.
Its 320x240 pixels uncooled detector provides unparalleled image quality for its class.
Thermal sensitivity is an excellent, 80mK.
This not only allows the operator to see smaller temperature changes, it also provides clear, noise-free images that are beyond the capability of less sensitive cameras.
The ThermaCAM E320 is available with a choice of 15deg, 25deg and 45deg lenses.
Interchangeable optics give the thermographer the flexibility to achieve the best camera performance for the application.
Standard features include a 4 x digital zoom, sound and colour alarms, moveable crosshair, automatic cold- and hotspot identification, in-field annotation and built-in laser pointer.
The camera stores more than 80 radiometric images in standard, low-density JPEG format that can be shared by colleagues without special viewing software.
Dust- and splashproof, the ThermaCAM E320 meets IP54 standards and is designed to be used in harsh industrial environments and all weather conditions; a sunshield for the LCD is an optional extra.
Weighing less than 800 grams including battery, the camera is ultra-compact and comfortable to hold in one hand or clip on a belt.
At the touch of a button, colour palettes, emissivity settings, temperature settings and other analysis tools can be changed.
The standard temperature range is -20C to 500C in two ranges, an additional range to 1200C is optional.
Built-in menu systems provide easy access to the advanced, yet simple to use, software.
The ThermaCAM E320 comes complete with ThermaCAM QuickView software enabling basic post-analysis of the captured images and the generation of simple reports in a PDF-format.
Microsoft Word based ThermaCAM Reporter software is optionally available for further detailed analysis.
The lightweight, long-life Li-ion battery provides up to two hours of uninterrupted inspection time and the camera features an internal battery charger.
Standard with the package is a two-compartment battery charging system that, with the optional 12V changing cable, can be operated in the car or van, en route to the next job.
