Flir Systems has become the foremost name in infrared by continually pushing the boundaries of the technology.

Its developments have made the technology accessible to an increasingly wider industrial community - but none of the Flir Systems achievements to date have been as ground-breaking as its latest.

The new InfraCAM toolkit infrared camera is quite simply in a league of its own.

Priced at around GBP4000, InfraCAM sets a new entry-level benchmark for safe, non-contact thermal inspection.

This new infrared camera has a 120 x 120 pixel uncooled focal plane array that displays an outstandingly crisp image in a choice of colour palettes on its 3.5'' LCD.

This quality allows the operator to identify more problems before they become expensive failures.

With a high quality image, a field of view of 25deg x 25deg, a 200mK sensitivity and temperature range of -20deg to 350deg this low-end introduction is far from a low-end performer.

It also couldn't be simpler to use.

Its point and shoot operation and simple plug and play report generation makes the InfraCAM a highly time-efficient tool.

InfraCAM has a fixed measurement spot in the centre of the image and comes with a simple twist-to-focus lens which suits the majority of find-it-fix-it applications.

It is controlled by four buttons and a joystick allowing the production of quality thermal images in seconds.

In addition InfraCAM has an in-built Laser LocatIR allowing the operator to associate a hot spot with the real physical target both easily and safely.

This is particularly important in electrical environments.

Weighing less than 550 grams InfraCAM is designed to be easily portable and is IP54-rated to withstand harsh industrial indoor and outdoor use.

A long-life battery ensures more than 7 hours of continuous operation time and is designed to be recharged in the camera; additional batteries are available as optional extras.

InfraCAM stores infrared images in its dedicated internal memory in standard .jpeg format; these can be viewed on the camera image gallery.

With just one click any image can be downloaded to a PC and inserted directly into standard Windows programmes such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

The camera package includes the ThermaCAM QuickView software that allows basic post-analysis of the captured IR images and the creation of simple reports in PDF format.

The list price of this new addition will allow even more small businesses to benefit from the advantages of infrared technology.

It is well within the scope of any SME, electrical contractor or professional electrician.

InfraCAM also adds value to customer-service by providing proof of the problem and the remedial action taken.

ABOUT INFRARED THERMOGRAPHY.
