Benefits of Infrared thermography
Infrared thermography offers distinct benefits in fixed-mounted applications within design and production engineering: it is able to 'see' thermal patterns and use it in real time to alarm or control
FLIR opens up the market for infrared thermography
The ability to monitor and assess prototype performance and production processes using thermography is not new, but the cost and complexity of the technology has proved prohibitive to many OEMs
One such business with the ambition to develop thermal imaging as part of its test and measurement product portfolio is SJ Electronics.
This Kettering based supplier has been appointed by Flir Systems as a new UK distributor for three cameras from their range.
The SJ Electronics models chosen extend from the find-it-fix-it InfraCAM through to the ThermaCAM E-Series, that provides a greater degree of sophistication for post-survey analysis.
The company will also supply the ThermoVision A-Series cameras that are primarily used in electronics research, process and production control applications.
As a preferred supplier to virtually all UK universities, SJ Electronics received several enquiries for Flir Systems cameras from its academic customers.
"We contacted Flir Systems as a result of this interest," explained MD Melvin Crane: "And both companies felt they could gain from each others expertise.
The InfraCAM and ThermaCAM cameras are obviously a good fit alongside our test and measurement equipment whilst the ThermoVision range will meet the need of many research applications".
SJ Electronics already included infrared cameras as part of its product portfolio thanks to its association with suppliers of electronics test and measurement equipment.
However, with the introduction of the Flir Systems range it now feels it has the technological edge.
"We've always sought to represent the market leader of all the technologies we offer," concluded Melvin Crane: "Just as we chose Tektronix for the best oscilloscopes we are looking to Flir Systems to provide us with the best thermal imaging cameras.
