The FLIR T-Series, a handheld infrared camera, has been awarded a "Red dot design award" by Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Essen, Germany

The Red dot design award is a coveted international product design prize awarded to suitable submitted products by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Essen, Germany The aim of the prize is to honour outstanding design quality and trendsetters

The annual red dot design awards span various categories and is one of the most coveted design prizes worldwide.

The selection criteria used are, among others, the degree of innovation, functionality, ergonomics, durability, ecological compatibility and clarity of function.

The Flir T-Series is a handheld infrared camera that measures the temperature of objects, and takes "heat images" based on the radiation that is emitted by every object, converting the thermal images into a standard electronic format.

The T-Series design merges functionality, ease of use, ergonomics, versatility, and compactness.

User requirements and consistent ergonomic elements have been integrated into the design process to optimise all interfaces and look-and-feel.

The strong colour patterns add to the product personality.

The award ceremony will take place on June 23, 2008 in the Aalto Musiktheater in Essen, Germany.

One of the T-Series infrared cameras will be presented to the Design Zentrum, together with the other award-winning products this year, for a special exhibition in the red dot design museum, the largest exhibition of contemporary design worldwide.
