GAMBICA welcomes the extension of MCERTS
GAMBICA has welcomed the extension of the Environment Agency Monitoring Certification Scheme, MCERTS, to cover water-monitoring instruments
Over the past two years, GAMBICA has collaborated with the Environment Agency to develop the scheme, initially through a joint contract with the Water Research Centre (WRc) A key requirement was for the performance requirements to be based on international standards to enable greater access to world markets

Also critical was the need to ensure a uniform approach in the UK that would be accepted by the regulatory authorities.
The performance standards now cover automatic wastewater samplers, a range of on-line analysers and water flowmeters.
Ian Clasper, the GAMBICA Executive responsible for the project, said, "We welcome the introduction of a scheme that is formally recognised within the UK.
Furthermore, we hope that because the scheme is based on international standards, it will readily gain acceptance internationally".
Details of MCERTS can be viewed on the Environment Agency website.
