B2B Compliance, the not-for-profit initiative of Gambica to assist companies meet the WEEE legislation, has welcomed publication of the UK draft WEEE Regulations and Guidance.

Geoff Young, Director of B2B Compliance, said "After significant delay it is clear that the DTI is driving forward to achieve transposition of the Directive by January 2007.

The draft regulations, while having an emphasis on household products, now gives a clear indication of the government position on the B-to-B supply sector.

As the largest WEEE compliance scheme, B2B Compliance has proven time and again that it is the definitive WEEE solution for Producers - this has been reflected in the recent appointment of B2B Compliance as the only scheme to be directly represented on the DTI WEEE Advisory Group".

The B2B Compliance website lists over 110 companies who have become Members of the scheme and Geoff Young explained: "The B-to-B sector has recognised our skills and expertise developed over the past two years and is supporting our industry-led strategic approach which is clearly in the interests of producers.

Our seminars, which have attracted over 600 companies, are now rapidly filling up as more companies hear of our strategy of ensuring that producers remain in control".

B2B Compliance was established following extensive consultation by a Gambica membership taskforce comprising over 30 companies, together with DEFRA and DTI, and will be registering as a compliance scheme with its focus on non household products - the scheme will take over many of the legal obligations of its members in complying with WEEE legislation.
