New TOC analyser has improved uptime / reliability

A GE Analytical Instruments product story
Edited by the Processingtalk editorial team Mar 7, 2008

The new Sievers InnovOx TOC Analyser for the process and wastewater industries is designed to run thousands of diverse, high-TOC samples - including brine and cellulose - with unprecedented uptime

The Sievers InnovOx offers unmatched oxidation robustness, dynamic linear working range, and calibration curve stability for industrial process and environmental water samples.

It is compliant with EPA, Standards Methods and ASTM regulatory methods.

The tough and reliable Sievers InnovOx uses a patent-pending Super Critical Water Oxidation (SCWO) technique to achieve superior TOC recoveries regardless of organic compounds and particulate impurities in the sample.

In addition, this new process removes all oxidation byproducts, and samples between each analytical run, eliminating the need for frequent maintenance.

"After extensively surveying wastewater customers, we designed a TOC analyser to address the two most pressing customer objectives: improving uptime and reliability," said Steve Poirier, VP of Marketing and Business Development.

"With the SCWO technology and other innovative design features, the Sievers InnovOx meets the mark.

The high-temperature InnovOx also extends our ultrapure water Sievers TOC Analyser line, enabling us to provide complete TOC solutions - from ultrapure water to high TOC concentration samples with challenging matrices - to the marketplace".

The Sievers InnovOx optimises sample representation and measurement through its unique sample handling/sparging module that thoroughly homogenises a large sample volume.

The Analyser uses an enhanced Non Dispersive Infra Red (NDIR) design, which has no moving parts, to allow superior linear response.

The NDIR has a dynamic detection range of 0.5 to 50,000ppm, and is capable of measuring Total Carbon (TC), Total Inorganic Carbon (TIC), Total Organic Carbon (TOC), and Non-Purgeable Organic Carbon (NPOC).

Options include multiple runs on the same sample, auto-calibration range selection, and integration with the proven Sievers 900 Autosampler.

The Sievers InnovOx has a web interface for easy, remote monitoring, an intuitive touch-screen display, and three convenient USB ports.

The Analyser is easy to set up, and operate, and requires no external carrier gas.

The InnovOx is ready to run immediately, as it needs no prior furnace heat-up or stabilisation.

Maintenance is minimal, keeping total cost of ownership low.

Minor, recommended preventive maintenance is only needed every 6 months, and calibration is typically stable for 6 months.

Unlike other TOC analysers using NDIR technology, the InnovOx has no catalyst to replace.
