The Panametrics DF868, the clamp-on flowmeter from GE Sensing, has been recognized by the UK Environment Agency, receiving MCERTS approval

The Panametrics DF868, the clamp-on flowmeter from GE Sensing, has been recognized by the UK Environment Agency, receiving MCERTS approval GE Sensing (Panametrics) are pleased to announce that they are the first and only manufacturer to be awarded MCERTS accreditation for flow measurement in a closed conduit

The Panametrics DF868 Ultrasonic Liquid Flowmeter has been independently assessed by SIRA Certification Service on behalf of the Environment Agency, and was found to fully comply with Part 3 of the MCERTS performance Standards for Continuous Water Monitoring Equipment.

MCERTS approval is an Environment Agency Initiative that recognises the GE Sensing Panametrics DF868 as fully compliant, showing the on-going GE commitment to its ecomagination initiative.

The DF868 uses non-invasive ultrasonic transducers that clamp-on to the outside of existing pipes, avoiding any costly process disruption and installation downtime.

This Award further demonstrates the GE Sensing commitment to both the regulator and the industry.

Any end user who has to comply with MCERTS can be reassured that the DF868 will help ensure that they fulfil their regulatory requirements.

MCERTS approval helps water authorities and other businesses comply with the EU Integrated Pollution Prevention Control (IPPC) regulations, many of which already use the DF868, on pipes going from 50mm to 1200mm in diameter.

"The DF868 can be installed on both new and existing pipes where there is no existing flow meter, or it can be installed to replace a failed in-line meter, without any process shutdown," says Mike Thackray, EMEA flow product manager: "With a 400:1 turndown, the DF868 has excellent low end resolution and is easily configured for a wide range of pipe sizes.

By giving MCERTS approval, the UK Environment Agency recognizes the DF868 for its performance capability and its ability to allow our customers to comply with environmental regulations".
