Compact, large capacity freeze dryer

A Genevac product story
Edited by the Processingtalk editorial team Jul 21, 2008

Genevac has announced the introduction of the VirTis VirTual large capacity pilot scale freeze-dryer designed for fast drying and high condenser loading applications

VirTual freeze dryers feature a large shelf surface area to footprint ratio, with a standard unit measuring just 127cm (w) x 193cm (h) x 99cm (d).

Using a powerful 50-litre internal coil condenser the productive VirTual freeze dryer is able to condense 20 litres of water in just 24 hours.

Three different CFC-free refrigeration options are available, offering condenser temperatures from -53C to -90C with low shelf temperatures of -48C to -70C to enable rapid freeze drying of a wide range of materials.

All condensers are fitted with an integral, highly efficient hot gas defrost system to ensure fast system turn-around times.

An innovative chamber isolation system enables detection of the end of drying and drying progress via pressure rise testing.

An expanded range of shelf arrangements (4-10) with shelf latching kits lets you configure the VirTual to your exact processing requirements be that for tissue, vials or bulk drying.

Advanced control system options allow easy scale-up from clinical and small scale batches to large scale automated production runs and enables compliancy with industry standards, including 21CFR Part 11, if required.

Multi-step, multi-recipe storage and optional PC control enhances ease of use, cycle development, historical trending and the repeatability of results.

Versatile and configurable, the Virtual can be delivered optimised for almost any bulk freeze drying operation including clean room applications.

To ensure easy cleaning and many years of trouble free operation all chamber surfaces in a VirTual freeze dryer are manufactured from polished stainless steel.

All VirTual freeze-dryers are built in an ISO 9001 production environment to meet the most exacting current good manufacturing practices (cGMP).

Genevac, an SP Industries company, was founded in 1990.

Today the company employs around 85 people, with manufacturing, R+D and marketing headquartered in Ipswich, UK.

Genevac today offers a comprehensive portfolio of evaporators to suit almost any solvent removal application, purchasing budget or productivity requirement.
