Genevac launches freeze dryer

A Genevac product story
Edited by the Processingtalk editorial team Aug 28, 2008

Genevac has introduced the VirTis Ultra Series Freeze Dryer, which has been engineered to handle a wide range of applications from phase one research through to production clinical trial batches.

Based upon end-user feedback the new Ultra contains design enhancements enabling larger batch development and processing, improved product uniformity and easier validation of operating procedures.

It is possible to specify up to 2.13m2 of useable shelf area in a footprint of just 1.13m2.

The 316L stainless steel product chamber, shelves and smooth-walled condenser chamber ensure good processing conditions can be maintained.

Up to 15 shelves can be specified and interspacing can be rearranged in most models to accommodate different product containers.

The CFC-free Super EL refrigeration system achieves shelf temperatures of -70C and condenser temperatures as low as -90C.

Condenser capacity on the Ultra is available in 25, 35 or 50 litres for processing large quantities of bulk material.

The microprocessor-based Wizard 2 controller is standard across the Ultra range automating the freeze-drying cycle and allowing storage of up to 16 different multi-step recipes.

Optional Allen Bradley PLC-based control systems are available offering a variety of tools, providing documentation for research and regulatory body requirements to 21CFR11 standards.

All freeze dryers are supplied on castors and options also include hydraulic stoppering, cleanroom configuration and a series of methods of end-point determination.
