GE expands Chinese manufacturing
facility
GE Water and Process Technologies has announced a USD8.9 million investment to expand its advanced water and process manufacturing facility located in Wuxi, China
GE officials joined Wuxi government officials and leaders for a ground-breaking ceremony -- marking the GE on-going commitment of investment and delivery of advanced water and process solutions to China "Our investment in the Wuxi Manufacturing Facility expansion project will bring advanced solutions that will help China meet its growing water, process and infrastructure needs," said Mr Steve Bertamini, chairman and CEO of GE East North Asia

Originally constructed in 2004 with a USD10 million investment, the GE Wuxi Manufacturing Facility manufactures advanced water filtration membranes and associated equipment and produces thousands of tons of specialty chemicals used in water and process treatment applications.
The facility will be expand by 30,000 square meters and will include a new manufacturing area to produce additional advanced water solutions, such as reverse osmosis (RO) membranes, RO machines and hollow fibre ultrafiltration (UF) membranes used in potable water, wastewater and water reclamation solutions.
In addition, the Wuxi Manufacturing Facility will improve the GE specialty chemical and equipment distribution throughout China and Asia.
Mr Zhou Weifang, president of GE Water and Process Technologies China said, "Our Wuxi manufacturing expansion is just one way our we are delivering on the GE company-wide ecomagination commitment, an initiative to develop and bring to market the technologies that will address our environmental needs, promote energy efficiency, lower harmful emissions, increase supplies of water, and reduce our use of fossil fuel.
Our advanced water and process solutions will help bring solutions and value to our customers in the region".
GE Water and Process Technologies has several treatment plants operating in China including the Qinghe water recycling plant in Beijing, a drinking water treatment plant for the Beijing Olympics National Stadium and a water purification plant for the new city area of Foshan, Guangdong.
