Global Display Solutions invests for growth in the UK, consolidating engineering, manufacturing, warehousing, sales and service for its UK-based operation in a new purpose built HQ in Yorkshire.

The organisation has amalgamated five sites into one, in a move which was completed without any disruption and exactly on schedule in December 2002.

The new UK Headquarters building was purpose-built to accommodate all GDS requirements within a new office and technology park.

The overall development has been styled to reflect the traditions of the region.

The GDS building, at 17,000 sq ft, includes the commercial offices, engineering labs, warehousing, small batch manufacturing and rapid prototyping facilities.

The premises, which have been 2 years in the planning, integrate the GDS UK Research and Development resources alongside the local manufacturing, to improve response times to UK customers and enhance service levels.

Volume production will continue to be outside the UK, in Italy and the Far East.

These resources are supported by a global procurement team to ensure lowest global product costs.

Having amalgamated all its UK sites and departments into the one building, GDS intends further streamlining of its working methods as part of the company's strategy to expand its capabilities as the leading UK supplier of industrial displays.

But this does not mean job losses as growth and completion of the new facility have brought a number of newly created positions into the HQ.

A new repair capability for all GDS products has been created on-site, to complete the overall service GDS UK will provide to its customers.

GDS selected an up and coming business park in the Yorkshire electronics hub to found this new HQ, and this now makes GDS one of the leading local businesses located west of Bradford.

Meanwhile the establishment of a single identity across the world reflects the GDS vision, and capability, to provide the best globally available display solutions locally.
