Controller for LCD panel

A GDS - Global Display Solutions product story
Edited by the Processingtalk editorial team Mar 26, 2003

Global Display Solutions, the leading supplier of industrial display systems, introduces the new GC2000 Controller Interface for enhancing the on-screen performance of LCD displays

The new GC2000 has been developed by GDS to allow a CRT monitor to be replaced with an LCD panel, without the original functionality of the display being affected.

The Controller also extends the capabilities of the LCD panel, by enabling additional input signals, i.e DVI standard and PAL, to be re-scaled and played into the panel.

This new Controller converts all input signals: Analogue (VGA, Hercules, CGA, EGA); Digital (DVI, TMDS, PanelLink); PAL (optional).

With the Controller, the fixed resolution of the LCD panel does not restrict the type of input signal.

Even if a low resolution is sent to the LCD panel, the GC2000 ensures that the output image is clean, clear and fills the entire screen, every time.

All Controller boards come fitted with a graphics chip that features a Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filter which has the capability of up-scaling or down-scaling the signal to fit the LCD screen.

The result - no more stretched characters, no more missing pixels, just a clear, stable display.

The design of the Controller board means that the graphics chip can be replaced by new chips as and when they are developed.

The GC2000 Controller also comes with an optional energy saving capability (VESA DPMS) and can be supplied without the software if preferred.
