Wadworths save money with GEM steam
traps
Wadworths have confirmed their GEM Steam Traps have yielded over 11 percent permanent steam savings, over the last five years, despite regular maintenance of the old traps: a spend also now cut out
Wadworths have confirmed their GEM Steam Traps have yielded over 11percent permanent steam savings In 1997 Mike Nicholds, the Chief Engineer at Wadworth and Co Limited, became interested in the then radically new type of steam trap - the GEM Steam Trap

Steam trap replacement saves 20% energy at Ineos
Ineos Fluor is now specifying GEM steam traps throughout its UK plant following significant steam savings identified in a site trial at their Rocksavage site in Runcorn, Cheshire
With 40 odd years of experience in steam and a Navy training, Mike was well aware of the issues surrounding steam traps.
When he heard GEM Traps were more efficient and, with no moving parts, did not require maintenance or replacement, he was keen to try them out.
Mike asked us to carry out a full survey of his existing steam trapping and obtained approval to purchase the GEM Condensate Return System, converting the whole site to GEM Steam Traps.
Mike was delighted to find the new system achieved steam savings of at least 11 percent, as promised, despite the fact the his mechanical traps had been well maintained.
Following Mike's retirement, Bob Tyre became Chief Engineer and, as part of the continued Wadworth policy of energy conservation, has installed accurate metering and monitoring systems on all the plant with high steam consumption in the brewery.
The results confirmed the GEM system has continually yielded over 11percent permanent steam savings for the past 5 years.
Not only have the savings been permanent, but Wadworths have been able to reduce their expenditure on steam trapping since installation to zero.
And, as all GEM traps come with a 10 year performance guarantee, Wadworths can be sure they will not have to budget for any replacement traps for at least the next 5 years.
