Medium pressure UV system gets Austrian validation

UV disinfection specialist Hanovia has achieved validation from Onorm, the Austrian standards Institute, for its medium pressure UV water disinfection system and its UV-C* intensity monitor.
Hanovia is the first and only company in the world to have an Onorm-validated medium pressure UV system and monitor.
Validation of UV water disinfection systems has become mandatory in the international municipal drinking water market.
It is now also required for many process-critical applications in the German, French, Austrian and Swiss markets.
"This is a major achievement for the company," said Hanovia managing director Craig Howarth.
"It shows that we are constantly at the forefront of technological development in the field of medium pressure UV disinfection and monitoring.
It is an important validation as it opens up significant new markets for us.
It now enables water utilities to install UV water treatment systems on existing treatment plants where available space has excluded alternate technologies".
*UV-C = UV radiation between 200-280nm, also known as germicidal UV.
At these wavelengths irreparable damage is caused to microbial DNA, preventing the micro-organism colony from being able to replicate and therefore survive.
