Dust explosion prevention using approved
IR camera
The explosion-proof certified infrared camera system from Hawk IR International can help prevent dust explosions, by providing real time thermal imagery to process operators and safety personnel
The Ex|CAM AF-Series, fixed infrared (IR) cameras are now certified for use in explosive dust atmospheres such as occur with flour or sugar, and provide 24/7/365 realtime thermal imagery to process operators and safety personnel from within the explosive atmosphere Based on a unique, maintenance free technology, the Hawk IR Ex|CAM AF-Series is a one-of-a-kind infrared camera designed to help industries owning explosive atmospheres adhere to Health and Safety legal regulations whilst maximising the use of groundbreaking infrared technology

Warnings of failure by infra-red monitoring
Where will your next plant outage originate? The majority of plant outages are caused by the failure of an electrical component and the resultant interruption to the power delivery system
Unlike the petrochemical industry which can utilise gas detection technology to help reduce the likelihood of explosions, facilities who operate with explosive dust mixtures such as sugar or flour, do not have any means of detecting the presence of the explosive "fuel".
The dust certified, Ex|CAM AF-Series can be used to prevent spontaneous combustion/explosion in an explosive dust atmosphere by continuously monitoring for auto-ignition temperatures and early signs of fires, hence proactively removing the "ignition" source in a potentially explosive area.
The Ex|CAM AF Series can be quickly and simply integrated into an existing CCTV system or installed as a standalone unit.

Coupled with factory fitted and certified pan/tile modules, Ex|CAM AF-Series is capable of scanning large areas remotely, the Ex|CAM AF-Series delivers real-time, high resolution thermal images which can be displayed via existing CCTV interface for fast and simple information dissemination.
"Every explosive dust atmosphere has an inherent cost of ownership, and infrared thermography can be used to reduce that cost and increase safety by reducing downtime and complying with legal requirements quickly and efficiently.
Until now, infrared camera systems have been rarely used within explosive atmospheres due to the inherent dangers associated with the delicate safe area equipment previous available" said Tony Holliday, Director of Sales and Marketing for Hawk IR International: "Industrial manufacturing operations with explosive dusts now have a fully certified tool that can identify trouble spots such that corrective actions can be taken to prevent explosions".
The Hawk IR Ex|CAM AF-Series camera is now in full production, with systems now available for shipment from its UK Manufacturing plant to almost anywhere in the world. Request a free brochure from Hawk IR International ...
