Accommodating single- and multi-axis servo drives in today's diminutive control cabinets is no problem with the new Beckhoff AX2500 compact digital drives, supplied in the UK by Hayes Control Systems

Accommodating single- and multi-axis servo drives in today's diminutive control cabinets is no problem with the new Beckhoff AX2500 range of compact digital drives, which is supplied in the UK exclusively by Hayes Control Systems Drives in the Beckhoff innovative AX2500 range measure just 230mm high x 240mm deep, with a width of 100mm for master modules and 50mm for axis modules, yet they offer outstanding dynamic performance combined with exceptional versatility, thanks to the use of efficient industrial PC hardware and the Beckhoff TwinCAT automation and motion control software

Master modules in the range incorporate power supply, mains filter, ballast circuit and power output stage, and they are eminently suitable for standalone operation in single-axis applications.

For multi-axis control, up to seven additional axis modules can be added to each master.

The modules simply plug into each other, providing maximum versatility, and also greatly reducing the assembly and wiring time compared with the use of individual single-axis modules.

As an added bonus, the plug-in architecture also eliminates the risk of wiring errors.

As with all of Beckhoff key products, AX2500 compact digital servo drives are available in versions to suit all major fieldbus protocols, including Profibus DP, Sercos, Lightbus and CANopen.

A version for use with the new EtherCAT real-time Ethernet-based fieldbus will be available in the near future.

This flexible open connectivity makes the modules easy to integrate into virtually any modern automation system.

Beckhoff AX2500 master modules from Hayes Control Systems are offered in versions for operation from 115V/230V supplies, and from 230V/400V supplies.

Both types can be supplied with ratings of 3A or 6A.

Slave modules are suitable for use with all masters, and are available in 3A and 6A versions.

All 6A modules feature an integral cooling fan, which increases their height by 37mm.
