Strain gauges - just set up and go

A HBM UK product story
Edited by the Processingtalk editorial team Mar 12, 2008

The latest improvement to the HBM modular design of strain gauge is the inclusion of an RJ11 plug module, simplifying installation: measurements can be taken immediately

Once the strain gauge is fitted, all that is needed is to connect the RJ11 plug to the amplifier or a distribution board for measurements to begin.

The HBM modular design comprises various strain gauges and different cable types ranging from 0.5m to 10m meeting strain gauge user requirements for ready availability and a wide range of different SG types.

HBM provides a wide range of strain gauge types for many applications in experimental stress analysis.

Strain gauges with plugs are available in 4-wire configuration, which is necessary when using the expanded Kreuzer circuit.

This circuit automatically compensates any resistance changes in the connection cables or connectors and thus enables strain gauges to be connected without signal loss, regardless of long cable distances to the amplifier.

No signal variations occur with this circuit, even when the plug is connected and disconnected several times.
