Systems integration specialist Hima-Sella has successfully completed its second tri-annual re-certification for the IEC 61508 standard - up to and including SIL3 (Safety Integrity Level 3)

Unlike the annual surveillance assessment (which consists of a one-day audit), the tri-annual audit is an in-depth examination lasting up to a week, addressing everything in great detail, and so is not lightly awarded Hima-Sella is pleased that its dedication to maintaining the highest possible functional safety standards continues to be recognised by the assessors, SIRA Certification Service, a world leader in conformity assessment

"We first achieved the certificate in July 2001," said Ian Parry, Functional Safety Specialist at Hima-Sella: "Retaining the certificate for a second time reflects the Hima-Sella on-going commitment to functional safety.

We are one of around only 10 companies that are registered under the CASS scheme, and we are proud of the fact that our certificate is number 001.

We think that so many years of experience is of considerable benefit to our customers".

IEC 61508 is concerned with functional safety of electrical, electronic and programmable electronic safety-related systems.

Requirements include documentation, management of functional safety, functional safety assessment and competence.
