The SonoStep combines ultrasonication, stirring and pumping of samples in a compact design, to disperse agglomerated particles and improve particle size measurement accuracy

The SonoStep is easy to operate and can be used to deliver sonicated samples to analytical devices, e.g for particle size measurement.

Ultrasonication helps to disperse agglomerated particles to enable the analysis of particle dispersions and emulsions.

This is important, when measuring particle size, for example by dynamic light scattering or laser light diffraction.

The SonoStep system works by applying ultrasonic power to a re-circulated liquid samples in a stainless steel vessel: it uses four components: a stirred vessel, an ultrasonic generator, the transducer and a pump.

All components are connected by hoses or pipes.

The output from the SonoStep is connected to the analytical device - that's it.

Ultrasonication of your samples improves the the accuracy of your particle size or morphology measurement, as the SonoStep performs three important functions:.

* De-aeration: The ultrasound de-aerates the liquid and therefore prevents microbubbles from interfering with the measurement.

* Circulation: The ultrasound circulates the sample volume at an adjustable flow rate and disperses the particles in the liquid.

* Dispersing / De-agglomeration: The ultrasonic power is applied directly under the rotor of the pump and ensures that agglomerated particles are dispersed before being passed for measurement.

This all leads to more consistent and repeatable results.
