Hima has announced the worldwide commercial release of Himax, a safety system designed to provide uninterrupted system operation throughout the entire life of a processing facility.

Himax is based on Hima's Nonstop XMR technology, which combines diagnostic-based SIL3 safety integrity with a scalable fault-tolerant architecture that eliminates false trips and provides for unlimited modifications, expansions, upgrades and regulatory proof testing without taking the plant off-line.

With its flexible system architecture, various rack sizes, different assembly and wiring concepts, centralised and distributed installations, Himax can be easily adapted meet application requirements.

It allows for tight integration with any DCS using open-standard protocols guaranteed by Hima, giving customers the power to choose the best DCS for their plant.

Hima said Himax brings higher plant efficiency, which translates into more profits and reduced capital and project expenditures, as well as reduced operational and maintenance expenditures.

Installing Himax means companies can run their plant the way they want to, and never be constrained by limitations of their safety system.

All safety-critical applications in the process industry can be implemented with Himax.

These include emergency shutdown systems, burner management systems, fire and gas systems, turbo machinery control, high integrity pressure protection systems and the automation of pipelines, among others.
