Client report: water charges analysis
for MMU
H2O Building Services have recently completed a project for Manchester Metropolitan University to audit the water, waste water and surface water charges levied by United Utilities
Phase one of the project was to identify potential areas for reduction of surface water charges and then prevent these reductions by negotiation with United Utilities on the existing surface water charges levied by them In this regard H2O have secured savings and refunds in excess of a staggering GBP434,000!
Phase two of the commissioned works saw H2O carrying out a full water and waste water audit of all buildings, identifying inefficiency of use throughout the toilet areas and other water facilities on site.
Through the installation of specific water saving devices and the modification of small plant on site, further savings in excess of GBP70,000 a year have now been achieved on behalf of the university.
The total projected savings and refunds achieved to-date amount to GBP500,000.
