Hoffman enhances the popular Proline datacom cabinet line with the introduction of FloTek and ConnecTek Cabinet packages designed to easily address thermal management concerns in data center layouts.
These new Proline packages provide increased heat dissipation to better manage the operating environment for networking equipment.
"Many existing data centres are not designed to adequately support the increasing thermal densities of server and network equipment.
Through our research and site visits, we've found that many data centres face two problems; they don't have sufficient cooling capacity and the airflow through the room is poor," said Brian Mordick, RCDD, Hoffman Senior Product Manager for DataCom.
"Based on extensive Hoffman research and testing, the Proline FloTek and ConnecTek have been designed to address thermal management concerns for data centre operations managers".
As electronic components become more compact, the heat output exponentially increases, resulting in a potentially shorter life span for servers and other data communications equipment.
The new Proline cabinets provide options for passive or active thermal management, in conjunction with random or hot aisle/cold aisle configurations.
Passive thermal management solutions rely on the fans and other systems integrated with the components to maintain an appropriate environment.
Active cabinet designs incorporate more air movement by using fans and other auxiliary systems support airflow.
The Proline FloTek and ConnecTek Cabinet packages include models that have been tested to dissipate from 2,500 to 8,000 watts of server-generated heat.
Configurations featuring fully perforated front and/or rear doors and/or top allow maximum airflow and conform to server manufacturer open-space requirements and third-party cabinet specifications.
ConnecTek features built in cable management and is especially suited for patch panels and other communications applications.
It is designed to be easily ganged with FloTek cabinets as part of a complete data center solution.
"We designed the FloTek and ConnecTek considering the great variability in data centre layouts.
In some situations the hot aisle/cold aisle configuration will deliver the best results.
Typically the random configuration is appropriate for legacy environments.
All are designed to provide the appropriate operating environment to ensure system performance," said Mordick.
All models are equipped with two sets of infinitely adjustable rack angles with square holes (server cabinet) or Tapped 10-32 (network/patch cabinet) in accordance with EIA universal spacing standards.
Each features a sliding top gland plate that provides a large closable opening and accommodates network cables and pre-terminated cables/patch panels.
Models are offered with and without sides to address ganged and stand-alone applications for easy installation.
