The Hosokawa Powder Characteristics Tester, type PT-S, is the latest version of this well known and proven laboratory unit for measuring the seven powder characteristics developed by Dr RLCarr

The Hosokawa Powder Characteristics Tester, type PT-S, is the latest version of this well known and proven laboratory unit which is capable of measuring the seven powder characteristics developed by Dr RL Carr in 1965 and used in the planning, designing and quality control of powder handling and processing systems The seven characteristics are; Angle of Repose, Compressibility, Angle of Spatula, Cohesion, Angle of Fall, Dispersibility and Angle of Difference

Three auxiliary values, Aerated Bulk Density, Packed Bulked Density and Uniformity can also be evaluated using the Hosokawa Powder Characteristics Tester.

This new unit offers increased accuracy and improved cleanibility as the inner wall of the machine is now part of the structure.

It is also easier and quicker to use with less potential for operator error.

The Angle of Repose and Angle of Spatula can now quickly be measured automatically, using a CCD ( charge coupled device ) camera and image processing which improves the accuracy of measurement.

When coupled to any standard PC, the Hosokawa Powder Characteristics Tester can display a radar type chart of the measured results giving a clear visual image which enables the operator to evaluate the results simply and quickly.

In addition to the standard measurement characteristics, new optional measurement methods for apparent specific gravity, including JIS Ceramics Standard (JIS R 1628, JIS R 1639-2), Kawakita Compressibility Evaluation Method and USP Tapping Density are now possible.

This new unit is a valuable and user friendly asset, applicable in many industries where powders are being processed and handled in bulk, including chemicals, minerals, food and pharmaceuticals and with several thousand in the field since the 1960s and the global support of Hosokawa, customers can be assured of reliability and service.
