New coupler from Huco is both flexible
and stiff
By employing new Step-Beam technology, Huco new Torq-Link coupling combines the torsional stiffness of a straight beam coupling with the lateral flexibility of its helical counterpart
High torsional stiffness and good radial flexibility have, until now, been mutually exclusive coupling characteristics Whilst a straight beam coupling provides high torsional stiffness, it offers poor flexibility and exerts substantial side forces on bearings

A flywheel coupling to suit every pump and engine
For many UK manufacturers of quarry plant, lifting and materials handling systems, Guardian two-piece flywheel couplings are integral to their product design
Conversely, a helical beam has great flexibility but is torsional soft.
So choosing the right coupling for the job inevitably involves a degree of trade-off between the two.
With its latest introduction, Huco offers designers the best of both worlds.
By employing new Step-Beam technology, Huco new Torq-Link coupling combines the torsional stiffness of a straight beam coupling with the lateral flexibility of its helical counterpart.
Furthermore, Torq-Link has double the torque capacity of the equivalent helical beam coupling as well as far greater torsional stiffness.
A further benefit of this new addition to the range is that it is moulded and therefore able to be produced in large quantities to economic advantage.
Standard versions are made from a plastic capable of withstanding temperatures of up to 150C and nano-filled models will be available for additional toughness.
Other materials are currently being assessed.
Initially three of the most popular sizes have been introduced - 13mm, 19mm and 25mm with standard bores of 3mm to 12.7mm; other sizes will certainly follow.
All are supplied with clamp fixing or set screw; special size bores are also available.
The low inertia and high accuracy of this new coupling makes it ideal for driving encoders.
It is also a good choice for applications requiring electrical isolation and corrosion resistance. Request a free brochure from Huco Dynatork ...
